You are not getting the point. When you push someone to choose a career and not let the choice organically evolve, because the family wants it, there are two very probable outcomes. Firstly, person ends up doing something which he/her may not enjoy which leads to unfulfillment. Secondly, doing something what you love, makes you do it better and make more money too. So you might be asking a future baseball star to be an engineer.

You don't push and force them to do something. You convince them it's the best thing for them and you allow them to choose naturally. Peer pressure helps them make the right decision. Also who said you won't let them do sports? Being good at sports increases their chances of going to Ivy league schools.

+1 on the peer pressure. This works especially well with boys I think. Boys intuitively understand that not hitting solid TC numbers makes them beta and less likely to date attractive women - both great ways to motivate them to make the right decision. I'm happy with anything aslong as my children chase TC.

This is not what the discussion is, discussion is that if people don’t pursue to become engineer, doctor or lawyer, then they bring dishonor to the family.

    Not at all.

That being said, I do feel bad making my boy who's in 3rd grade solve 2 LC hards before being able to eat dinner 😟.

I will encourage them to do something they enjoy and have a passion for. Whether that is tech, trades, philosophy, or anything else. I'll fully support them in it.

I'd hope that by the time they're old enough for it that sex work would be less stigmatized. Regardless, I'd do my best to ensure they had all the information to make a choice based on how it might affect them, like with any career. Then I'd download all the porn I would ever need so I wouldn't chance running across them accidentally, and I'd support their choice.

Grandma: what do you do for a living sweetie?
Child: Let me show you! I might even involve you in some of my work.

I doubt my parents would be interested in joining the adult industry, but that's up to them I suppose. I'd hope that they would respect my child's choices as I would.

No they would take out the belt and force them to leetcode to increase TC

Haha, the only belting that will be happening in my home will be consensual and I'll be doing it to my wife, not my children.

    Definitely not doctor or lawyer.

They should know basic software engineering regardless.

If they become a doctor or lawyer that will bring our family shame.

I personally would have tried some other career path if it were purely my decision -- Athlete/ artist / Photographer / theater

I turned out to be a fine Engineer; I think there are tons of profession to explore. Tech has an edge!

You can do tech, earn the money and explore all these other options. I think vice versa would be a bit challenging (or not)
