base salary history by year

Here is every base salary i have had since starting my career. I definitely felt like there were stretches early on where i was significantly underpaid. I'm probably still a bit underpaid. Curious how my history compares with others. BASE SALARY ONLY please. Format is: year of salary change, base salary, position category (e.g. SDE), Metro area 2006 60000 SDE Boston 2007 73000 SDE Boston 2007 76500 SDE Boston 2008 81500 SDE Boston 2009 83000 SDE Boston 2010 85500 SDE Boston 2011 93000 SDE Boston 2012 96000 SDE Boston 2013 99000 SDE Boston 2013 102000 SDE Boston 2013 120000 SDE Boston 2014 122000 SDE Boston 2015 124000 SDE Boston 2015 130000 SDE Boston 2016 130000 SDE Boston 2016 133900 SDE Boston 2017 144600 SDE Boston 2018 161000 SDE Boston 2019 170000 SDE Boston

I think it makes sense to talk about base. First off, everyone who is on the job market right now wants to maximize their base in addition to maximizing TC. Having everyone share their base helps gauge the market. It can sometimes be hard to get a sense of what base to ask for on blind because a lot of people talk in terms of TC and some have appreciation on their prior grants potentially skewing that number much higher. Secondly, most large companies have rigid salary bands for each level and if you ask for too low a base, they might discriminate against you for it and slot you lower. Also, if you come in at a lower level but at a very high base that overlaps well into the next level it can be often easier for companies to promote you faster since they don't have to give much of a raise to kick you into the next band. Its an easier sell for management on the promo if only a 6% raise gets you to the N+1 level midpoint vs someone at a low base that would require a 25% raise. Then at the N+1 level the band may widen up unlocking larger comp increases. Third, many companies target a fraction of base salary for your RSU refresher and bonus so higher base == higher TC

Everything you just said is wrong.

Thank you for including the last 2 columns. I'm glad they weren't redundant info that you could've just mentioned at the beginning!

I actually had it that way initially but i deliberately added it in a redundant way to emphasize the requirements.
