I recently a very young start-up with very inexperienced founders and as the highest paid employee I think im about to be scapegoated for the fact that we missed our numbers even though I raised concerns about our numbers every day and no one listened. what do I do? I work 14 hours a day and I gave up a lot to join something I believe in but that I dont think the market wants. My founder is mean-girling me and ive been vomitting from the stress of it all weekend. im going to be fired bc no one else did their job. what do I do?
Sounds like they need you more than you need them
Move on!!! No job is worth losing so much physical and mental health over.
If you don’t have visa issues, quit and look for a better employer. You need to plan about next steps if you need visa
You would be surprised at the number of 25-30 year old founders who think they are the shit. It is best to get out of there while you can.
Especially in SF. So many clueless egomaniacal tech bros acting like total sociopaths to make a name for themselves. Frauding the public and are pretending like their company isn’t a ticking time bomb.
First take care your health. All the stress is harming your body. Once your health turn in a wrong direction, it is hard to get it back
Let this be a great lesson that you *document everything* and time stamp it. Present it to your bosses and leave a paper trail. That way if they scale goat you they’re fucked legally. You get a huge severance package. Their reputations are ruined, and they’ll never raise money in the valley again. Also, read “The Prince” by Machiavelli
⚖🐐
Forgot to mention. If they’re ultra incompetent assholes send all your data you have on their incompetency to their investors. Only do this if things get out of hand. This will get you a lot of respect from the investors which will help you in the future if you want to raise money.
Useless management always finger pointing employees. Take care and quit!
Don't let it stress you are switch gigs?
Im looking to but I have to pay my rent too. If you hear of any VP of Marketing roles please let me know!
Everyone is hiring marketing roles, at a larger company you just wouldn't be vp.
I am so grateful that you all took the time to respond to this. I am blown away by your kindness.
Only reason I could pass this onto you is because I had to learn the hard way. Pass it onto someone else young powitan
I promise!
Quit. You deserve better employer
