how to turn down an accepted offer
i accepted an offer at facebook, but recenty got an offer at Amazon that has better comp and is in my desired city (also close to girlfriend) overview of both offers below. how bad would it look to turn down the offer after accpeting it at facebook? what should i do? same position facebook west coast (far from family) TC 160k amazon east coast (close to family) tc 190k
Tell them you’re no longer able to accept for personal reasons

Ask FB to match you with a team on the east coast and ask them to match the Amazon offer. They will prob work with you here. But seriously, welcome to Amazon.

Be nice, be sincere (and mean it), explain your reasoning. Don’t threaten. Just say you really like to start with FB and like to work with them to make this happen. Sometimes it’s amazing to see how much empathy people have if we are nice.

I would recommend just talking to Facebook, tell them the reasoning. Your reasons sound valid, they are not made up or stupid! But, the question is, if Facebook give higher counter offer, would you re-consider?
