Probably be easier if you gave your current TC and location, otherwise it’s hard to tell you depending on what your current standards are.

Seattle, about 165TC

Do you wanna leave Seattle for Chicago? There are a lot of personal preference factors here

It depends on what you compare to. Compared to msft, it's probably ok. Compared to HFT, this is an intern/entry level offer.

Microsoft pakodey Nov 9, 2019

Depends on the company. Which? What level at MSFT?

Microsoft TOwT85 OP Nov 9, 2019

61. It’s a smaller company but not super well known.

Microsoft pakodey Nov 9, 2019

Not worth it, IMHO. Weather, less TC, not many good schooling districts. But much cheaper luxurious suburbian houses.

If it's just a new geography try New York or San Diego. Coming from Seattle, Chicago has miserable and long winters.

Which company? COL lower in chicago.

Tesla Bigballer Nov 9, 2019

This is a really good TC for Chicago. You can afford a luxury condo or downtown apartment on the lake.

Slalom Consulting StankyFeet Nov 9, 2019

With this salary you could buy a house in a year.

As someone who has worked in both Seattle and Chicago I would say, proceed with caution thinking about relocating to Chicago. Chicago is not the Midwest low cost of living that many think it is. High sales taxes, city taxes, utilities, and state income tax. Pretty quickly closes the gap on any savings you find on rent compared to Seattle. As others have said, winters are horrendous and for someone coming from Seattle you'll find waay less activities to do when you want to escape the city. No mountains, hiking, or camping. No skiing. No "wine country" nearby. The list goes on. But...if you live for sports, you will probably love Chicago. I swear everyone there is obsessed with sports all day every day.

Chicago is a great city. You'll be able to live well on your comp. If your cool with the winters, make the move. Yoy wont regret.
