By the time news reaches me, stocks have always made the move. for ex, netflix subscribers dropped and it was after trading hours and stock had already dropped. what can be done so its fair for everyone ?
You can trade after hours too, you know. But yeah, you can't compete with the institutions so don't bother.
Market is quite efficient at propagating information. Not 100%, but the window of opportunity is too small for an individual investor to exploit.
Stock market could be made more fair if we made all the stocks worth $1 and gave every person $1 so they could all pick which stock to have.
You didn’t understand thr question. I’m not asking for socialism.
People with more money and resources will be able collect and act on information more quickly and efficiently.
There's a reason why people at hedge funds get paid $$$... good traders have to predict this ahead of time
On 9/11 the bond and stock futures markets moved on each plane crash before the news hit the wire services. Someone always knows first, and in case they were on the 110th floor.
Or they looked out the window and saw planes crashing into buildings and immediately made trades...... Since most financial institutions are in NY.
The stock market has become the domain of institutional investor's with access and capabilities that go beyond your own. As an individual investor it's almost impossible to beat, which is why so many smart people advocate for Index investing. If you can't beat the institutions, join them and profit when they do.
There's no room for HFT, but value investing is still possible.
This is why you buy the entire market using ETFs. Buying individual stocks as a non professional investor is always a losing strategy in the long term.
No.
