Hello! A friend is looking for a job as a gen developer in Dallas area. What are good companies to look for in this area? What are the interview patterns? What should you prepare for? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

DFW sucks they are all .NET jobs that don’t pay worth shit. If I were forced to work in Dallas I’d find a job that I could work remote for

If she has to go in Dallas I would go for defense contractor; provides good opportunities for relocation in the future within the same company, may be able to get a clearance and opens doors, and SW is still sort of the core of the business. Second up would be finance which brings the same relocation possibility benefit
I worked in Dallas for 5 years. They have lots of jobs but the quality is very very poor lot of obsolete technology like Oracle J2EE or .NET. low pay. Most companies have maintenance type of projects there. Few startups but all shitty.
Were you in Amazon Dallas area? She is okay with obsolete tech etc. she has to stay in Dallas. She is looking for a decent pay.
Nope worked for a few so called startups of Dallas area near addison and Plano. Also worked for 2 large enterprises in Irving. In Dallas tech pay peaks at 150K. You can get more only if you have personal connections
Dallas is where engineers go to give up on their dreams. Tell him to quit programming and do sales or marketing instead if he is dead set on living there.
She is not dead set but the life situation has her staying there. She can’t move right now. So she is looking for decent pay.
Capital One , Toyota , J.P. Morgan , Sap , Pepsi co , Ericsson, CBRE , sams , intuit All of these guys have office in Plano you can ask her to look up jobs in these . There are many more just google for Dallas jobs .
As she is on green card. I would recommend Toyota and Pepsi co. Good pay and wlb.
Fannimae also is a good choice. They have few openings but they pay well. I have see 200k + salaries for 3 yoe here
Google, amazon and Microsoft office are also here. But most jobs have very specific requirements
