current tc 200k. 2 years of experience

Which offer should I take? Both offers are for the SF office.

Google:
150k base
245k rsu (monthly vesting)
20k signing bonus

Uber:
144k base
250k rsu (1 year cliff)
38k signing bonus

Uber has interesting work but the future is a little uncertain.

Unless you end up in a great team, very likely you'll be bored to death in Google.
Or even worse, you might see politics and reorgs and all the big co garbage.

If you're interested in uber id say go for it. You can always come to Google later.

Not to discredit OP here, good job. But has google been more lax with leveling? I’m seeing more people with less than 3 yoe, with L4 offers.

Someone from Google suggested that in another post. This might be more likely for borderline L4 candidates. Also, if you look at the TC, it's not in L4 territory

Fwiw I got team matched before I was determined level at HC.

That could be a reason. Maybe HC can use the resume and team fit if they’re split between L4 and L3

I remember commenting on that older thread about L3 and L4 headcount actually. Can someone point me to it? I can’t find it anymore

      There’s no L4 headcount either

If you want you career to be at least moderately interesting, pick Uber. Google won’t scratch the itch— unless simply having G on your resume will keep you motivated for years to come. It’s slightly more money, but you’ll be more bored at G.

I would hope somebody on the inside would disagree.

But telling OP to pick G just for the name is bad career advice. If they’re not happy it’ll be more damaging to career than the google name being beneficial on the resume.

As I understand both those offers are around 5% above your current TC . Why move for such a low increase.

I didn’t know companies did monthly vesting without the initial 1 year cliff 😳
