I've an upcoming interview for Software Engineer-Big Data Engineering position (https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/1533741450 )which belongs to Big Data Engineering org at LinkedIn. how's the org in terms of culture, people, tech stack etc.? what types of teams are there? is there any data infrastructure team in this org? recruiter told me that there's generic hiring process at LinkedIn, does it mean I'll be considered for other orgs as well? also, any pointers for the interviews will be much appreciated Thanks TC: 170k YOE: 3.5 years
I'm not in this org, but afaik they own everything to do with offline data ingestion, processing & storage. Stuff related to HDFS, Spark, Databus, Gobblin, Pinot, ToNY etc. There are articles on most of these in our Engineering blog. You can check them out if interested.
You don't interview for a specific team at LinkedIn. Team matching happens after you clear your interview and get a hire decision from HC. There's 2 paths of interviews - a generic software eng interview and a systems infrastructure interview. The latter is geared towards system design problems rather than algo/ds. You might be considered for a role in data infra if you go through the latter interview path.
Thanks. Do we get to choose which track we want to interview for or it'll depend on my profile or any other parameters? Right now, it's only an hour long phone coding interview where I'll be expected to complete 2 coding questions. I'll talk about this to the recruiter as well
Sorry for the late reply. I think you need to make sure you specify your interests and career goals when talking to the recruiter. If you mention that you're more interested in infrastructure coding role, they'll consider you for the systems infra track. Anyway, good luck.
