Posting using a friend's account to remain anonymous since the company I interned at is super small. My priorities in order are - 1. TC, Promotions, Compensation growth over 3-4 years (refresher/target bonus info would be helpful) 2. Potential upside (can take risks right now) and growth as an engineer (learning opportunities) 3. Company culture, WLB and perks (PTO, Free food etc.) 4. Location - Would like NYC ideally but open to others All offers are for new grad SWE. Roblox Offer - Base - $142k Stock - $200k/4 (8000 shares valued at 25$ each) Signon/relocation - $30k Location - San Mateo, CA Pros - Great culture, IPOing soon, WLB Cons - Location, optimistic valuation?, On visa so will be laid off if don't get the lottery since no global presence Coinbase Offer - Base - $135k Stock - $90k/4 (can go upto 120k afaik) Signon/relocation - $15k Location - Remote (might be able to move to any office) Pros - Location, Could be next big thing?, Global presence (UK/Singapore) if I don't get the lottery Cons - Average employee tenure is around 15-18 months, Mixed WLB -- Other offers that I'm not too keen on Amazon Offer - Base - $116k Stock - $86k/4 (5/15/40/40) Signon/relocation - $34k First year, $32K Second year Location - Seattle Pros - FAANG, Stable tc, all liquid no paper money Cons - WLB is super team dependent, no refreshers, PIP Culture, limited PTO, no free food/perks, upside is low, location eBay Offer - Base - $125k Stock - $45k/4 Signon/relocation - $30k Location - San Jose Pros - all liquid no paper money Cons - engineering growth is questionable, limited PTO, no free food/perks, location Bloomberg Offer - Base - $155k Stock - $20k annual bonus cash, no stock Signon/relocation - $30k Location - NYC Pros - Base is in the H1B bracket so stress-free, WLB, Location Cons - no upside, compensation growth?, Limited PTO I am pretty set on Roblox/Coinbase due to the upside. Would also love to hear if you work at either of these 2 companies - 1. What are refreshers like? Yearly bonuses? 2. Tech stacks 3. Anything else I should know? Eg. Inflated valuations for RSUs, refreshers won't kick in unless you join by certain date, etc. I have also never negotiated before, so any pointers/suggestions there would also be super helpful. I don't want to sound greedy, would just like to ensure I'm compensated competitively and not leave too much on the table. If you vote for others in the poll, please drop a comment if possible saying which company you'd pick and why. Thank you! P.S. Wherever I end up joining, I'll be open to referring :) Will update once I start and am able to refer you beautiful people. #Roblox #Coinbase #Amazon #Bloomberg #eBay #newgrad #offer
Congratulations on the offers! Both Coinbase and Roblox are unicorns. From what cbinsights says, Coinbase is valued at $8 billion and Roblox is valued at $4 billion. Do these valuations mean your Coinbase equity is more valuable to begin with, but your Roblox equity might grow more? Curious to see what other Coinbase/Roblox employees think
Regardless of what you go with, these seem like great offers. Good job and congrats!
Thank you!
Roblox lmao
Any specific reason? Their TC is significantly higher, not sure about the other factors
Isn’t that a children’s game
Op I'm interviewing for a new grad role at Coinbase, can I DM you for advice? Btw I would take roblox if I had the choice
Go for it! Thanks for the input :)
Search around before committing to a pre-ipo company. Not saying don’t do it (sounds like you want to take that risk :D) but there’s some heavy tax implications involved. Uber & Lyft employees could probably help out with the hidden sometimes sneaky details. Also are they offering RSUs or options? Big difference and options can really bite you in the ass depending on how things go.
Both are offering RSUs. My thinking is - 5 years from now Amazon, Bloomberg and eBay will probably still be around and be largely the same. Coinbase and Roblox will either see explosive growth or stay stagnant. Jumping ship is something I’ll probably do either ways at that point. Roblox’s base is high enough to keep me happy and not worry about liquidated comp at the moment to be honest. Thanks for the insight though. Definitely helps me keep an open mind and not get carried away by a company’s bling :)
Congrats on the offers! I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss bbg. That’s a lot of cash, top performers see strong consistent raises, and you’ll get your pick of a wide variety of teams. Nyc is unbeatable as a new grad. 20 days PTO plus unlimited sick leave is really not a bad deal either. Careful with shops that promise you unlimited vacation, some people never get to take any of it. But we won’t IPO and make you rich, so there’s that.
Thank you! What sort of raises can a top performer expect over 4 years? Just trying to gauge whether it’ll be similar to the other options I’m considering
@OP your Bloomberg offer is negotiated right? The numbers look negotiated but your post mentions you haven't negotiated..so was confused
Wtf, am I born without brain
Roblox. No brainer. It is difficult to see when you don't know someone with kids
If you go to Roblox I'll be your senpai, so it's the best choice

OP, do you mind sharing the Roblox questions if possible?
I’d be open to discussing over dm. Just an fyi they weren’t verbatim LC questions but more design based. Feel free to message!
