I have 1 yoe as a SWE but worked very closely on a product/crossfunctionally with it at Facebook. The Google job description only lists the following as qualifications (attached below) which I think I’m qualified for, but are there any other unspoken qualifications that they actually look for? As in, are they looking for minimum 5+ years or something?
If you’re an eng, why become tpm? They make less. I’d aim to be an EM
Why become a TPM? Seems like a bad decision.
This role is for TPM, Software Engineering which is why I felt it was the right stepping stone to becoming an EM since it’s near impossible to jump right in with 1 yoe in SWE. Hoping to get some insight from others?
If you want to be EM then stay as swe.
Pretty much this. TPM to EM is not something I’ve heard of. In the meantime you’re earning less
Why not just get in as SWE then become EM?
Thanks for all your comments! I made a more informed decision.
