going to join a competitor company, but want to have 1 day overlap between the jobs in order to get rsu vested from the old company. My plan is to be on PTO with the old company while starting with the new company. Is there any concern or risk? not no visa.
Not worth the risk, mate. Just delay joining by one day.
What risk? Dont make up stuff to scare people. There is absolutely no risk since OP will be on PTO.
There’s always a risk with working for competitors while employed. You never know all the terms and conditions. Not worth the risk. It’s just 1 day, why not push it.
Everyone will know you’re a corporate spy
send me your intel employee id and i’ll take care of all the legal mumbo jumbo
What about taking some time off between old job and delay start of new job? Or does it depend on whether or not the new job wants you to start right away?
Many places won’t let you take pto as your last day. They will opt to pay you out. If that is your plan you might lose the vesting. It’s a risk but in a different way from what you were thinking.
Typical overthinking
Don't take the risk, delay joining by a day instead.
i don't think it's a issue, during pandemic i have heard people doing 2 jobs seamlessly coz there is no way to track
Play safe: Delay your start date on new job. Probably nobody will notice the overlap, but if it does you could be sued and loss your new job in a worst case scenario. BTW: probably your old employer will not allow you have your last day as PTO, they will pay it and let you go.
No issues. Do it.
