Greetings! I have got some feedback (for L3 swe interviews) from my recruiter which states : Phone screen : Strong Hire Coding interviews(3) : 1 Strong Hire, 1 Hire and 1 Lean No Hire Googliness : yet to get the feedback (Went well according to me) What are the chances of passing the HC? Has the HC become stricter than before? (After the layoffs) I am really concerned about the LNH and I wish I could take an extra round to nullify that! Is that possible? #Google #HiringCommittee #HC #software #engineering #swe #Interview #feedback *Update* : Got a strong Hire in Googliness interview. What do you think will it be?
I had 3 SH 1 hire and one NH and was rejected before layoffs but they came back after an year
Hey, so they came back with interviews from scratch or are the same interview feedback being used?
From scratch
Ofc you won't pass.... When I interviewed I believe those were the best interview of my life, I believe I've got SH in all round and no hire in one round. And didn't passed HC yet, and it's been a year already.
Sorry about that man! Also, might have paired with the fact that the hiring freeze hit in just after! But getting a strong hire is not just about solving the questions within your time without any errors. There's a lot that goes behind the scenes and "most interviewees tend to over-rate themselves"(not my words). Also, from what I've read, no hire is almost impossible to get out of :(
Yes. Hiring freeze happened just one week after I got my first TM call, though I had positive feedback from HM but team got snatched headcount in hiring freeze and i was put on hold.
It depends on the person who gave strong hire. If that person is able to defend the decision, you will be hired. Lean no hire will also be defending their decision
You can still make it, imo. That's because of the SH in the onsite that offsets the LNH.
Thanks dude, hope so!
googliness ? is that official name of an interview? What do they think of their company?
It’s always been the name of their behavioral rounds.
lol...
60% hire. HC will review why LNH is given. Is there any valid red flag. Do you know why you got LNH?
Yes, that interview actually didn't go well. The question(and the follow up) were extremely open ended. Missed out some things in first question which she had to point out would fail, before I could correct it. The follow up too I thought she wanted me to give subarray based answers and she later explained that she wanted subsequence instead. Once, I was able to clear that up with her, I was able to come up with the approach very quickly(literally thought she would consider this as a green flag, the quickness) and code it up partially(a difficult dp solution with the main algo written). Since, I did code the main part of follow up, I was expecting a lean hire, but it came up as a surprise that it was leaning no hire.
Xoogler here. Agreed that the reason matters. Based on it being an issue with solving a specific problem, it depends on how other candidates handle the same question, and how well you did compared to them. If you showed strong problem solving skills in other interviews, you are still in the running. There were older studies showing that the strongest performers were the ones with a single interviewer that said no hire, where others needed to fight for them for the packet to pass. Doesn't mean you are one of them, just that there is plenty of precedence. I was a TSE manager, and we frequently took people from the SRE pipeline that were rejected for lack of experience with scale. There were plenty of great candidates that just lacked domain specific expertise for a specialized role.
Is it your assumption or recruiter said? i never got that
hey nope, those aren't assumptions. Most recruiters do discuss them from what I've heard from friends(even if they're not proceeding to HC).
Did recruiter say it is going to HC?
passed hc with 1 LNH recently, my feedback was - provided sob optimal solution, failed to come up with an optimal solution even after hints. It was surprising for me as I was expecting a H or SH from that round.
Ohh even I was expecting a LH in worst case :/ What were the feedbacks to your other interviews?
others were H
How’d it go champ? Also yoe?
Hey! It's gonna take some time, recruiter said. There's gonna be team fitting first. Yoe : 2.3
Why my recruiter always denied to disclose the feedback to me?
Oh that's sad, in most cases they do give a high level feedback.
