I have a 1:1 discussion with manager next week, want to ask for a raise. even though i joined this company recently but i left other offers for this one given that this was into RnD but once I got here I realize that there is a bit of politics involved and its not that great on top of I am a horrible negotiator didnt negotiate much while joining. i want to bring these up in the 1:1 please share your honest advise or tips. tc: 75k euros yoe:8
Get competitive offer which is at least 20% more and show your manager. They will counter if they are actually paying you lower than median for your role
Okay, fair enough. I had other competing offer earlier which was like 15% more. But, since here the role was into RnD I picked this one
That is the price we all pay for what we like. If work is good, i will say take that 15% cut and enjoy the work. Blind is biased towards TC, I get paid shit (~25% lower) but i like my work/team/WLB so i tend to ignore the low pay and enjoy other aspects of life.
Budgets are locked down for the year already. You're definitely not getting a raise.
Is that true even when someone is difficult to replace?
Well in general anything can be done. I've seen mountains get moved to keep the right people. But a new employee that just joined? Definitely not.

Youโre not going to get a raise
Ok, what would you advise? Change job again?
Perhaps if you need the raise. It depends on a lot of things. But I doubt youโd get a raise just AFTER joining.
