Can i survive off this in the bay area? i have no debt other than a $600/month car payment. Really considering accepting this job offer. thanks all
Yes you should be fine. Expect rent to be $2-3k for a studio/1-bedroom
Sure if you live with roommates
+1 I’ve seen 1bd for around $2-3k and then 2bd2ba for $3k-$4k on average so having a housemate will usually save money
Yeah I survived off $95k base in SF my first year working. As long as you’re not eating out every day or just dropping a shit ton of money on unnecessary stuff, it’s not that bad
That is a totally livable salary. It's just that you won't be able save much. I know a lot of people living in Sunnyvale with lot less salary than that.
If you have a $600/month car payment, you don’t seem like the frugal type and will have a tough time surviving in 130k in the Bay Area.
Key thing is the rent. If you can save on that you will survive.
@uber nailed it
You can survive for a lot less than that. Be specific with your question. If you’re single, and are willing to a) share an apartment with someone or b) settle for a studio/1 bedroom, then yes you should be able to make ends meet, and still save a little each month.
yes, but you need to compromise on living situation
I’m single and don’t mind living with other people in tech. Just no idea how to find those people
craigslist and probably there’s bunch more of facebook groups and other apps
