When I signed on to Amazon, they awarded about $76k RSUs (~$2k for each * 38 RSUs) mostly vesting in years 3 and 4. I accidentally cashed my first stock, but kept all the rest. It’s now valued ~$72k. What a 4-year investment bust. Poor timing of joining Amazon… I had wanted to keep RSUs as an investment to fund an early retirement. But, I would’ve made plenty more by cashing out and investing in CDs So, what should I invest in now? Please vote and share specifics below. I already max out 401k, backdoor roth is too much of a headache (did for about 3 years), renting out our first home, a few CDs (4.75% APY for 18 months), and some stock blended portfolios. All those new hires getting Amazon RSUs: Learn from my mistakes. Hoping we get some better investment suggestions below than our RSUs. 🙄 Tc: $175k, YOE: <1 (career change), 12+ corporate #personalfinance #investments #RSUs
You have 12 years in corporate? Why did you make the change to tech?
I had 8.5 years in corporate and then moved to tech, nearly doubling my tc. Amazon’s frugality and favoritism is child’s play compared to my last company. I also did a career role change then, and did another career/space change earlier this year because of the layoffs. Like going from monkey making calls to monkey writing Wall Street journal articles, to monkey infiltrating storm troopers.
Ah yes the classic “Another day, another $” lifestyle 😎
15% is obviously a joke but so is thinking 4 years is an investment time horizon.
If someone sold me the idea of 15% stock appreciation, I’d sell them the stocks
Amazon’s comp philosophy. 🤷
Backdoor Roth is not a headache and worth the 2 minutes of your life to have tax free growth lol.
Backdoor Roth a headache? You set it and forget it - we use Vanguard and the process is automated.

I did this and I’m happy about it
