The economic climate is bad. A lot of companies are doing layoffs, rescinding offers and putting hiring on freeze. If you’re luckily enough to be in a position to about to receive an offer, here is my best advice to you all: Negotiate a Termination provision, aim for at least 6 months but keep in mind, this is all contingent on your level. Executive/director level can ask for 4-6months. In the provision, avoid using broad terms, terms should be specific and clear. Then see if you can get full or partial acceleration of stock units (4-6 months). Lastly, get medical insurance coverage. If this helps 1 person, my job is done. You all be diligent on your next move, don’t let these corporations play with you. What about senior engineer roles? What can I do. Expecting offer from NVIDIA.
Very valuable information
Thanks for passing along! So sorry to hear about the rescinded offer.
Did Shopify pulled out the offer from you after you signed it? Sorry about the rescinded offer
What level were you about to join at Shopify? I don’t think any company will entertain custom offer provisions below VP level.
