Is every Asian company 996? I know that is true for TicTok and Alibaba but my Korean neighbor said that's also true for Samsung and Glassdoor confirms it. I need not mention the Japanese salarymen at NEC, Toshiba, Renesas, Toyota, etc. Is this just a cultural thing?
Japanese companies are much better, except for the low tc.
Really? Movies show that many have to stick around with their boss and colleagues at bars after work. Is that true?
@rlSH62, Abe's work-style reforms shortened the long working hours https://www.japantimes.co.jp/community/2018/09/23/issues/abes-work-style-reforms-give-japans-employers-green-light-demand-unpaid-unsafe-overtime/. As for things you mentioned, I think it’s not common in young people nowadays.
No. Most Malaysian and Thai companies are not 996. Very laid back and chill compared to Chinese big tech companies.
East Asian companies. South Asians are lazier, so better wlb, which I preferred btw.
Nope, plenty of Indian companies aren't 996
What is 996?
No not every company, but in general i'd expect worse WLB if it is a company based in Asia. You just have to be more careful when vetting options if you are interviewing to work in Asia.
No, from what I've heard it's every Chinese company.
I think the situation is better with some startups like tidb/dolphindb, but for big tech like Alibaba/Tencent/Bytedance, it’s true.
