I start a new job with a competitor on june 22. Significant RSU vest on june 15th. i have seen my team mates been walked out the same day they gave 2 weeks notice as they were going to competitor. If I give 2 weeks notice what are the chances i will loose out on the RSUs? do they still consider the end of 2 weeks as last date? or is it the day you are walked out? if last day is considered the day you are walked out then i would rather give my notice in june 16th once the RSUs have vested. But i am also worried i might burn the bridge. Cant push date any further as it was already pushed due to visa applicayion delay.
Push start date by a week. Give notice on june 16
Can’t push date further as it was already pushed by month due to visa application delay.
Don’t tell them you’re going to a competitor. You don’t need to tell them where you’re going.
It doesn't matter, they can still punish them by kicking out before the stocks vest.
Who is Apple competitor? Either everybody or nobody
The one Steve Jobs wanted to launch Thermo nuclear was against?
@lyft what was that
Tell them on June 15 th(cross check when your get the stock, otherwise let them know in 16th). Tell them that you are going to the competitor. If they walk you out the same day, all is well If they didn't, from 16th, onwords keep talking about your new job during team meeting (usually when the chit chat happens waiting for everyone to join), and how excited you are about your competitor and how aggressively they are hiring. They would send you out the next day. Jokes apart, if you are in California, it is easy. It is at will employment. Tell them you won't be able to continue beyond that date. But the first preference is to talk to your new boss. Reach out to your new manager, ask him/her advise. If the competitor is big-G, it is only recruiter pushing for something and for some administrative BS. Most likely the manager will be okay. Most people try to be fair. But the most important thing is, don't tell your intent to leave before the stocks vest.
The ppl that got walked out, were they still employed for their 2 weeks? I’ve seen that. Just weren’t allowed at work.

Same dilemma. I don’t want to lose RSUs but don’t want to burn bridges either. I have informed my new employer that I am going to serve 2 weeks after vesting.
