Everyone needs a goal/priority to keep moving forward. What are you prioritizing this year that you lacked or failed to achieve or maintain in 2019? Comment if you would like to give or receive advice. Let's start off this year with our goals and rally the Blind community to help everyone achieve them.
Finding a new job with good gc policy
Definitely search Blind for tips. I've read quite a few strategies from different people for specific companies
Yes. It seems I have to target faangish companies. I am weak at lc...
For as hot as some of the threads have been regarding friendships and relationships, I thought they would poll higher.
Learn something new. Like a fun thing to do, still thinking. Help me with ideas. Ice skating, dance, personal grooming, swimming?
Dancing is something that reaps dividends throughout your life, both from a fitness and confidence standpoint. You can do it solo or with a partner, and there's so much variety, it's really up to you. I love this idea.
Agree. I know a few dance forms already but I want to learn a new one this year :) but there are also a ton of other things I want to do, I haven't prioritized as yet
Damn no one cares about friendship.
I do. Many do. But it's just not the highest priority.
I was surprised about that too, but I did ask about highest priority
For higher TC goals, since that's currently the highest priority goal for you guys, we know that changing jobs tends to give you higher pay bumps than promotions if you negotiate well. 1) Is there a magic # of changing jobs every X # of years to bump it significantly? 2) Are those job hops as effective when you're managerial/senior level as it is when you're still IC? Inquiring minds want to know
What is TC
For fitness, what's your biggest stumbling block/ obstacle and your best motivator to stick with it? My main motivator is seeing the results. When I see results, I get more pumped to do better.
I believe for fitness, consistency is the most important thing. You won’t get results overnight (unless you’re on steroids for muscle gain etc). But do set goals for yourself. If you don’t meet those goals, introspect and keep going. Change your goals. Don’t stop.
The consistency was problematic for me in the beginning. I'm getting better, but admittedly I still fall off. However, I agree having a goal is important. I'm competitive by nature so I would use those 30 day challenges at the gym to keep me in line.
