Publix Vs FedEx?

I have two offers one is a lead data engineer at fedex Dataworks(remote) and the other one with Publix as a senior data engineer at Lakeland, FL. Base pay is approx the same for both roles. Please me with your thoughts #dataanalytics #datascience #dataengineer #publix #fedex

If you want to deal with horrible politics and poor leadership, FedEx is a great place to be. They’re also going through a re-org, I’d avoid them. I know several people looking to leave right now at multiple FedEx opcos, including Dataworks (myself included).

Are layoffs going on or just reorg? Honestly I’m just looking for somewhere I can relax about my ass being on the line despite good performance. First baby on the way, it’s extremely stressful. I’d rather deal with corporate BS but have a stable job any day

@T-Mobile It’s both layoffs and reorg right now. Morale is at an all time low, I’m hopefully leaving next month and I know several others slated to do the same. I would avoid like the plague

Publix is nice from what I have heard but lakeland is off the map.

I second this. Op - If you're comfortable with either living in Lakeland (country type of living) or live in Tampa and drive long hours to work, this might work for you

I've heard good things about Publix about balance and tech stack. Fedex is a sh*tshow I would stay away. Lakeland isn't that bad it's growing, and not far from Tampa or Orlando. No state tax in FL is a big plus.

Publix is one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. I am currently working here and while I am treated fine I believe it is because of my position and higher education only. The store employees are treated horribly! Days off and vacation times rescinded at the last minute, making them work over 11 and 12 hours in a row, sometimes and ultimately treated as an ignorant laborer with no respect or consideration of their time.
