Read this post on linkedin. Everybody is replecable. No company gives a shit about you folks. #layoff
Is that bill gates ?
LOL
laughed too hard at this
meh.. why didn't you crop including the profile picture?
Respecting the man's privacy.
So the original post was private?
31 YOE and still a senior
What's wrong with that? It's a terminal role. Do you expect everyone to eventually get promoted to CEO or what?
Wonder what his base was
Link the post, this needs attention
There are several such posts. Very senior people have been shown the door.
Saw someone else as well with over 20 yrs at Microsoft. Satya is a cold mf’er. But, he’s sending the message loud and clear, adapt to the new MS or get out.
The severance package is probably enough for them to retire early.. then take some unemployment insurance. Just in time for social security to kick in.
They’ll easily get hired. With 20 years of experience at Microsoft, their skills will be in high demand.
There is a dignity in firing the employees as well. Microsoft has lost it. Saw a lot of posts of experienced folks getting fired. Shame on Microsoft. Even Meta and Amazon did a better job in layoffs!
Nah. Lot of red badge folks (10+ years) have been booted out of Amazon.
What do you have to say about google now 😑
Not news. Common knowledge that you will be replaced by someone younger unless you are irreplaceable.
How does someone become irreplaceable?
By earning the title genius. Everyone in your vertical should consider you the best
I agree with the fact that Msft is managing the layoffs in a pretty bad way. But in this case, having someone as a senior with 30 YoE doesn't make sense and was probably detrimental to the company. Do you like to keep a 20 year old student in the 5th grade? Besides, the company would be paying him a lot for the same role that will be performed by another person for a lot less.
Senior is terminal. No reason to shoot for principal if he’s performing fine. And unless he got excellent raises don’t think his compa would catch up with new hires.
Usually untrue. It's the more tenured staff who are on lower salaries compared to the new hires
Bitter truth about the work life these days. 45-50 yrs is the new retirement age for many now, post that it's tough to survive spl in distress times like these. For the younger gen it should be a lesson, focus on savings, investments more, rather thn consumerism, work life would reduce further in future.
45 to 50...dude tech is the new finance, 35+ and your shown the door at the next opportunity or down turn. 45 to 50 yeah if you work for a defense contractor like LMT.
This is vastly out of touch for the vast majority of people. With inflation, market crashes, etc. 45-50 isn’t as attainable as you’d think for most unless you want an extremely modest retirement.
Has to be a joke.
It ain't a joke. My friend used to work in his team 2 years ago.
Should be retiring then
