I have Nordstrom interview coming up for Software Engineer 1. The full loop consist of coding, behavioural, Nordstrom culture / values, and sys design. Has anyone gone through loop before? If so, can you please tell what to expect and how to prepare?
I have no idea how to help here, but I'm curious, what languages / platforms do they use?
Depends on the side of the business. But overall Java/SpringBoot for Backend. React for UI projects. Python for Data Engineering. We have a pretty mature K8s platform since we’ve been using it in Prod since 2017.
Thanks, that's much more modern than I expected for such a long lived company. Kudos to whoever is calling the shots over there.
I have nothing to offer on the interview side but heard they don’t pay well so…..
Base salary of Eng 1 at Nordstrom is 95.5k-148.5k (also a 10% bonus). Nordstrom doesn't pay as well for more experienced roles, but their pay for entry level eng looks competitive for the average company.
The bonus is paid out not too frequently. Base salary is usually close to 120k. No stocks.
Our interview process has no real standardization across teams for the questions. I’d be ready for leet code easy/medium level problems for coding. The behavior and culture questions are should be generic “show me you’re a functioning human being” types.
Thank you! Appreciate your input. Do you know what kind of sys design questions will be asked for engineer 1?
That would be up to the team but according to our talent framework E1’s have no expected system knowledge.
When I interviewed for E1 three years ago there was no system design. Coding questions were mostly Leetcode easy, some even easier, maybe one medium from the blind 75 list.
Where can we get blind 75 list questions
You can find it online “team blind 75 leetcode questions”
Don’t do it
Why?
How did it go?
Was good
Did you got an offer? Can you share your experience?

Nordstrom actually hires SWEs? I thought they only need sales ppl to sell expensive crap to dumb rich ppl
Be nice. Good luck OP.
Thanks Viasat for being nice. My husband worked there long back. He liked people but remote work was not fun for him and his team was all remote. All the best OP
