There is this humming white noise that comes from the electrical room two rooms down the hall. The noise level is barely detectable for normal people. In fact when I visited this place I could hear it during the day. I have tried acoustic panels. It helped with echo within the room but not the sound coming inside. Earplugs tend to become irritating after couple hours. I have not tried all brands though. Tried playing various nature/raining sounds. It does cover up the noise but I find it hard to sleep with any sounds. I just bought a bed tent. It's literally a camping tent covering the bed. Arriving next week I will see. I came across this product while browsing online. Looks ridiculous but It may help a little. Lease breaking costs 5.8k USD which is outrageous. Any suggestions? TC270
Try sound blocking curtains
That sounds awfully familiar. I tried everything but in the end what worked for me was making sure I carry a decibel meter with me when I search for housing. It's my number 1 priority when looking for new places
This is a great idea. What decibel meter did you buy?
There are many apps who can do that for you. They may not be accurate in absolute terms (audio calibration is difficult) but they can capture relative noise levels: Place A is 5db quieter than Place B.
