Wondering if I got low balled for a consultant level offer from Deloitte in the DC/metro area. Position is for financial management consulting. Have 5 years of non big 4 (also non consulting) experience as a financial analyst. Offer was $97k base + up to 13% bonus. Should I have been considered for senior consultant? #finance #consulting #deloitte
OMG. That’s really bad offer
It's a bad offer but you're non technical and in the government practice. So it's not that bad.
Bad offer. Don't take
Did you get offer in Advisory? Or Consulting? That will make all the difference. If it’s Advisory, then your offer appears to be average/ at level with experience and what Advisory offers, regardless if consultant or senior consultant
Management consulting within Enterprise performance
Government is less than commercial consultants but still seems like low ball with 5 YOE; should be promotion to SC in 1 or 2 years try to make sure that your target promotion year is as soon as possible (just make sure it’s not 3 years)
Is it federal
Nah it’s not
Taking the offer?
$97k in DC/metro is a low-income level unless you spouse makes up for it.
Not a good offer . I , too , am in the D.C area and I got an offer for for a Business Analyst role for 90k. I turned it down and took an offer for 130k at a less known company . Deloitte would be good on my resume but I’m not taking a pay cut.

Here are three stats about how your money is increasingly useless after the most recent inflation report
The non-consulting experience is probably what held you back but getting Deloitte on your resume is good. In 2yrs if not on track for imminent promotion, shop around again in Big 4 for the Sr.
...and yes, lowballed. Push for 130k if they won't give Sr. Try to get competing offer.
Agreed, definitely lowballed. Try to aim for senior consultant with competing offer or go back and say you want to talk levelling
