I’m being reached out to for contract SWE roles at Apple. I would like to work at faang but hate leetcoding grind. What are the conversion rates? Would I be treated poorly as a contractor? I’m confident in my abilities and my work ethics. I have a great stable 200k remote position but the potential at faang is much higher. Any insights would be great Update: Thanks for all the feedback. It seems a bit too risky to leave for just a chance at conversion. I’ll stay put and just do my slow studying
Making 200k AND you’re remote? Tell Apple to take a hike. Personally I would only do it for a full time role. Not bothering for contracts.
Yeah, I don’t like the risk. Just wanted to check in with the community how risky it actually is
This whole faang thing is so fucking stupid. There are literally people who own a lawn mowing business, making more than engineers on here. I would worry less about the name and more about the money
It’s about the potential money, the numbers at faang are so high. People on hear talking about 500k it’s really enticing. So it’s kind of like if I can actually get converted it might be worth it
What contracting company are you part of? Might depend on which one is offering the role
Looks like they’re from intelliswift?
Not worth it right now.
Not worth for apple. They won’t convert you to FTE.
Doing contracting with Apple and have done contracting with Meta ,Google ,Adobe and Microsoft.Stay where you are.
Working as a contract SWE at apple. Conversion is mainly based on the project you are working on. It’s been 3 yrs for me, no conversion yet. With that said, I declined to go on site.
Oh nice, so you’re a long term remote contractor for them? What’s your TC looking like?
They don’t convert. And the vendor-contractor role is setup so your dismissal is faster. You’re at the whims of your managers goals and they don’t disclose information to you.
I know people grinding several years with no conversion but will look good on resume for jump, I wouldn’t risk 200k remote job for this.
I would stay at 200k remote. Don't worry about that"prestige" bs
