Hi all! I've been in cloud engineering for a couple of years now and find it somewhat boring. Looking for a change and am considering a switch to data science, data engineering, or some other realm of software engineering. My ultimate goal is to do less consulting (solution architect type work) and to do more coding, working with data, etc. My experience over the past two years has been as a cloud engineer working with all three major clouds, Terraform, K8s, Ansible, and various other tools (Splunk, Trend Micro, etc). Prior to that I was a full stack dev working with React, Angular, Java and C# for about a year and a half. I would say I'm also proficient in Python but haven't used it professionally. My worries with switching to DS is going to a lower salary for my first role (at least initially). Is it possible to study for the next 6 months and land a DS role, DE role, or some kind of other SWE role with my background? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
