650-700k TC in financial services

I work in tools/platforms for analytics / data products space as Engineering Manager (M2) managing a team of 25 based in Seattle in the travel and hospitality space. My partner got a good role based out of New York. I've always wanted to explore Financial services. I want to use this as an opportunity and explore this space. What roles or levels at the following companies would net a TC of 650-700k for technology/ product? My interest is in financial services not investment banking/trading. Morgan Stanley: Executive Director? JP Morgan: Executive Director? Marcus / Goldman Sachs? American Express? Barclays? TC: 600k / 11 yoe

This might be achievable at eBay (as Sr. Director). At least in engineering.

Diff for JPMC unless you are an MD and at a cutting edge role ..

What is the top end of Executive Director pay ? Are MDs equivalent to M2 or Manager of managers or higher ?

EDs depend a lot have not seen going beyond 550k , MDs are a very broad range , at JPMC , MD reports to md reports to md reports to MD , so a CTO is also an MD So it varies a lot , some MDs have an org of 350-600 ppl and sone have 100 too so widely varies

What are you talking about? Everyone is VP in financial services

Unity ndfE65 Sep 28, 2022

In finance, a VP title is simply a senior manager. A managing director is true power within fund/org. Of course there are actual C suite but that’s another level lol

Pretty sure in finance a VP is just a manager. SVP is a senior manager

In tech at GS you would likely need MD to hit 650-700k. I highly doubt there are SVPs making that.

I got an offer for VP at $600k a year ago (though I declined it)

In engineering?

Typically in large financial services like JPMC you would need to hit MD to get in that range. EDs make about 500-550 - ones closer to the MD level. But then half as stressful as FAANG!

At big banks, you may hit that range with high-level approval, but without strong financial experience, it's not easy to get an ED title let alone MD, which can comfortably get you what you want. NYC is full of high-tech/fintech companies. It would be much easier for your transition.

Interested in this topic. What’s the median total comp for MD in non-tech org at Goldman Sachs?

JPMorgan Chase bingoogle2 Feb 18, 2023

686k on non-tech side, MDs have levels within them.

Morgan Stanley xyz&abc Mar 4, 2023

Director/ED level tech role under revenue generating business unit in bank or hedge-fund should be able to put you in that range.
