I think that’s 25% of the employees https://ain.capital/2024/02/07/grammarly-lays-off-230-team-members/
This company does not need to exist anymore. We have ChatGPT. That's better and more efficient. Happy to have my mind changed if someone feels otherwise.
I just got laid off today so I can give you my unbiased perspective. Grammarly still has a place but they have to understand who they are. They made a massive unforced error by shoehorning a ChatGPT endpoint into their core product and "me too"-ing their way into competing with OpenAI. Lots of people still care about writing and having a unique, authentic voice and would rather eat glass than delegate their voice to ChatGPT. Lots of people have real, well-grounded concerns that using ChatGPT to generate text opens them up to unknown liabilities and risks, legal, IP, or otherwise, but still want writing assistance that works sorta-seamlessly. But instead of nurturing and investing in those people, Grammarly thought they needed to keep up with the bandwagon. That was the beginning of the end IMO. They have loyal customers and a brand that punches WAY over their weight, some really good, clever, sound ML models besides GPTs, and above-average technical chops for their size. Grammarly should be viable if they refocus on their core constituencies, fight back against "AI all the things" and the deskilling of writing, and keep the party going long enough to cash out. IMO they won't.
Are they not concerned of using Grammarly?
That company has an existential reckoning to work through. Generative AI and enterprise infosec barriers make this product a rather tough sell.
Who uses the platform now post ChatGPT?
Not everyone needs war and piece
"I'm sorry but I cannot generate a response as that would violate OpenAI usage policies."
I just interviewed with them last week 🤷♂️
Makes sense. Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?
Tell that to gpt
They were hiring quite a bit. But around December, I think they knew about wanting to lay off.
Wiat... whut? grammarly is still a thing?? Who need grammarly when we have all these LLMs...
They're deader than SNAP
LLM makes most NLP stuff before it, obsolete, or worth much less comparing to time when LLM doesn’t exist. Grammarly doomed by its name, sadly
