Bytedance says they prefer shutting down US ops to sale. If they lose in court this app is toast and, given national security implications, they’re probably going to lose. Time to skedaddle

Xi would rather have a spy machine operating at 50% (requiring VPN or missing app updates) for a few years then for mostly foreign investors to get their money back.
Seems fair to me, China keeps banning our apps and wants to control its cyberspace. They probably think we should’ve done this much sooner.
Exactly. Makes no sense how they can ban and regulate whatever they want without repercussion but cry and scream victim when the US does the same to them. From what I’ve read in this app, that company is shady af. Good riddance.
🇺🇸 is not 🇨🇳 🇺🇸 touts freedom and independence 🇨🇳 touts control and subservience Banning 💩 is not in line with 🇺🇸 values
Mm the article says they’d rather shut down than sell to an AMERICAN buyer. The bill just prevents foreign adversary ownership. UAE easily qualifies as a buyer that meets the conditions.
Thank you Xi
