This is brutal! https://www.cnbc.com/2024/01/29/amazon-terminates-irobot-deal-vacuum-maker-to-lay-off-31percent-of-staff.html
If iRobot business was healthy then why would it lay-off?
Feeling for those impacted. DM if any of you see a fit at TikTok, I can refer you
Really unfortunate for iRobot employees. My understanding is that the EU’s plans to block the acquisition were the main driving factor here. Was iRobot also just fundamentally doing poor to begin with?
from irobot to inobot
man, american robotics companies are so fkin lame compared to their chinese counterparts. all the equity goes to the fkin boomer capitalists + middlemen regulators for them, so zero innovation happens in that area
Time for Amazon warehouse workers to unionize
iLayoff
Not even a Robot cleaning device could clean the culture at Amazon
Sorry to everyone affected. Yet another example of how evil Amazon is. In the end, it’s a blessing to not have to deal with Amazon considering they would have laid off those workers in the acquisition anyways.
It wasn't Amazon that laid them off.
There are many reasons to shit on amazon, but this isn’t one of them. Neither the discussion around blocking the acquisition, nor the layoff itself, were decisions made by amazon. These employees unfortunately got pretty screwed over here.
So the intermediate deal makers were trying to mask the unhealthy business by selling it off to Amazon. Kudos to Amazon for discovering this and not proceeding with the deal. M&A’s in the US are mostly to save businesses. I am glad large corps are doing their due diligence.
antitrust attention killed the deal bro what are you talking about
At least read the article before dropping your hot takes, Amazon's the one crying the most over this deal, complaining about regulatory interference
