A colleague of mine describes Marketo like this: Salesforce makes web-based software for sales. Marketo makes web-based software for marketing.

How's being bought out by VCs? I hear they're shutting a lot of the bay area office space and making people move to Colorado.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. No one's being asked to move but some have volunteered. They're just trying to focus their hiring efforts in areas with lower costs of living and average salaries.

I interviewed there recently and had an awful experience. They are moving to San Jose in 2020 and didn’t tell me that until I got onsite in San Mateo. Bar for technical talent is pretty low. Wasn’t clear what role I was interviewing for, or even what stage in the process I was in. The process for me was: phone screening, short onsite, another phone screening, another short onsite. It made no sense. The pay seems like shit, maybe 170 TC for a mid/senior role. Didn’t reimburse my travel expenses to top it off, lol.
