Requirement: 1. Computing power >= i5 2. SSD space >= 256 3. RAM = 8GB 4. Price range <= CAD 700 $ All the laptops that are available with above specifications are Windows. I wonder why Ubuntu laptops are not sold by manufacturers (like lenevo, hp, dell...). Isn't buying Windows laptop is like paying premium for its license ? #tech
I do not remember model names , but manufactures used to ship laptops with ubununtu in 2019 , I did not check recently.
If you don’t know how to find such laptops that are preloaded with Ubuntu from the factory, maybe stick to using Windows. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/new-xps-13-plus-developer-edition/spd/xps-13-9320-laptop/ctox13w11p1c4001u
They buy bulk licenses. You can wipe off windows and install Ubuntu yourself, those specs are definitely not hard to find at that price point
Dell XPS
Dell sells “Linux” laptops that come with Ubuntu, at least in the US. I’m not 100% sure they are actually cheaper than the windows equivalents, so you may want to do research https://www.dell.com/en-us/lp/linux-systems But they probably won’t hit your kind of ridiculously small budget ($525 USD, right?)
The windows license is about $100, so Ubuntu configurations should be that much cheaper.
Why would you need Ubuntu when you have wsl ? 🤔
WSL is not a replacement in the least.
Get a Windows one and install Ubuntu
Oem windows license are cheap , get windows laptop and dual boot Ubuntu
