I got "fished" at a Michael's by a mid-level Googler (won't give too many details so she doesn't get recognized). Classic yada yada about "I'm retiring this year, I'm super young, we should talk". She asked me for my number. I wanted to see where it would lead. I googled her, she seemed legit. She was boasting about Google and her mentors, so for a second I thought it all had to do with Google given her role. Wrooooong. She insisted that my partner and I should come and meet her at a Starbucks. I was curious, so we went. We talked for an hour and after a while she dropped the bomb: cult-like talking about financial freedom, millionaire mentors, hating running the wheel at Google for so many years, and asked us to read "Who moved my cheese" for our next meeting. The next meeting is supposed to be about "laying the 2 to 5 year plan to commit to your dreams and financial freedom". We left with an odd sensation and immediately thought: is Amway still a thing in 2022?! Well, Blind. It is. And this Googler is financially free and wants you to get on board! I'm tempted to go, but I want to give it a twist. I find it so amusing at this point!! Any suggestions on what to do to finally get her to say she works for a pyramid scheme? TC: 110k + 🥜
Amwau has better rating than Amazon, amusingly
Cause Amazon isn’t a cult, we know shts bad here. Amway is the delusional one or maybe many people here who have recruited enough underneath them in the pyramid to get major money.
“cause Amazon isn’t a cult”?????? Did you not get the memo about mandatory celebration of Papa Jeff’s birthday on Wednesday?
No harm in meeting again just for the fun of it. Is she charging any $$$ for these sessions
Not yet
Turn the tables on her and tell her you have a scheme for her to become even "more" financially independent
I like that 🤣 I should try to get her to join Herbalife or some bs MLM like that
Do they give a script or something? Our nanny said exactly same words.. we politely declined and wished her best!
It's crazy, she did. We found a bunch of stories on Reddit and it's the exact same thing! She complimented a piece of clothing I was wearing and asked me where I got it. And without me asking she started talking about how she's retiring this year, that she just moved to the city, and would love to meet my partner. Then she started raving about "how cool of a couple we were". She kept insisting about meeting but ONLY with my partner. It was odd. Then we saw a bunch of stories online about how they try to get couples, because it's easier to onboard two people at the same time.
Fun fact: my dad worked in HR-IS for Amway Corporate for years as an Analyst. Pay was pretty good, but they tried to outsource his position so he said fuck you guys and retired early 😂😂 I lived in Grand Rapids for 15 years. Amway sucks.
If she does have control time and money (makes enough money with her business and has freedom) why wouldn’t you meet her again? Why do you have to lose? You can always walk away. My had a friend who sold the products and I actually like them. And their guarantee is insane. 180 day no questions asked is unheard of (and believe me, I have returned a handful of products and never even got asked why as long as the purchase was within 180 days) Also, if it was a scheme, how is it still working legally in so many countries? I remember reading something about an investigation by the FTC and they got cleared. I mean, it’s a business so no business works without effort, but if she is not charging you for her time, why not meet her… just saying
How else google makes its billions? They all sell amway
