I have a friend from college who I used to hang out a lot until 2-3 years post college. We invited each to other's bday party, etc. I moved to US, so we kind of lost contact a bit. We found each other again on Instagram, added each other. At the same time, she became somewhat famous on IG, she probably has about 3k followers. Every post she makes, there are literally hundreds of likes and tens of comments, so any of my comments get buried in it. I tried the good old FB, but she doesn't seem to use it anymore Maybe I should just give up? I'm married and I have zero interest of being anything more than a friend. I just feel I lost a friend for no reason and don't know if I should just give up 350
If she’s a friend, you should have better ways than to reach out on IG. Like a personal text message, phone call?
good point, I still have her #
Friendships dies
What kind of friendship are you expecting with her, and what does that look like? Do you expect to have conversations over IG comments? Do you want to chat about what’s happening about each others lives? Are you giving opportunities for her to reach out to you too by posting your own IG stories or posts? As an Instagram employee working on consumer products, I recommend just DMing her and messaging her directly and reply to her IG stories. Public comments and channels for social connections have fallen out of market for a long time.
we're in different countries, it's hard to keep in touch. But thanks for the time you spent writing this. I sent a text and she got back to me. I guess the IG lane was full.
