A complicated situation for computer science grad

Well before I ask this I need to explain my situation. I have computer science bachelor and masters. I have worked here and there after my graduation as a contractor since I don’t get into fulltime offers as as grad. I’m not a excellent programmer and I have passion for digital marketing. I’m passionate and hard worked , is there any way to get into digital marketing in some good firm which can sponsor my visa as well . I love to stick with software development but I’m a mediocre programmer and I don’t wanna keep doing it. Any suggestion will be so helpful.

Find digital marketing companies then look them up at http://h1bdata.info/index.php?em=Google+Inc&job=&city=&year=All+Years and see if they have sponsored a visa in the past and for what kind of roles. Should Atleast help you know who sponsors and who doesn’t. Good luck! Take advice from people in digital marketing and network

Find a start up that is willing to sponsor you.

Unfortunately, being passionate and hard working alone won't cut the mustard. At least not anymore. Life of an immigrant is pretty hard in the US. I've seen dumb folks getting visa sponsorship while some brilliant ones don't. Being street smart is paramount. Now, in your case, you're adding another filter (aka digital marketing) to an already small solution set (aka companies that sponsor visas for positions in your field). If I were you, this would be my strategy. 1) Keep your LinkedIn profile up to date (very imp) 2) Have some pull requests for open src projects ready and mention those on your LinkedIn. This shows HMs that you have the practical skills. 3) Always aim to join one of the big names. Microsoft, for one, has an ARMY of top notch immigration lawyers who will always have your back (I've heard negative things too but haven't faced any personally). 4) NEVER join start ups until you get your GC. If the employer folds, you'll have no choice but to return. 5) Lastly, network as much as possible. Having references is key to getting ahead in the line.
