Looking at a Director Job at ADP but they posted a really wide payband, and most online stuff I've seen is kinda old. What's the total comp/breakdowns in the IT area for a director there. I've seen the postings here - lot of legacy systems, older stack - but looking for stability as well. 0 stability at the current position. Current TC 200/50/0
You're looking at a avg base of 200k and then there's a 17% bonus component which can get multiple based on your performance and your org performance (multiplier of 1.1-15 possible so let's avg it 1.3 so the 17% becomes 17*1.3 = 22%) so bonus around 35-45k based on multiplier and then 10% stock so about 20k stock. Totally 200+35 to 45 +20 which is about 255-265k. If you have a really good resume and can negotiate then maybe 220k base and in that case 40-50k bonus and 22k stock so in that case 280-290k. This is a great deal if you get a Director title.
Can confirm. It’ll be a little lower outside major metros but basically yes. On top of it - you can expect 3-5% increase for meh performance and 5-6% for good. They use the bonus and RSUs vs huge raises to reward performance. It’s way easier to get someone 20k in stock vs 20k in raise since raise is from shared budget and stock is free (for company).
I was a director and they wouldn’t go hire than 120 base. I left.
It’s accurate.
It depends on location, but generally speaking a director at ADP is equivalent to a senior manager in other places. Half of the non tech directors don't even have direct reports. I don't expect a large jump from your current TC, maybe at most 50k. As far as stability, there were a few small rounds of layoffs over the past year. Not enough to make the news, but they are definitely trimming fats. One more thing, the other directors in ADP tend to be old timers who gang up on the newcomers. So be ready to play politics on day 1.
