Hi folks - preferably from Apple - I want to connect with you guys about what it’s like to work at Apple on Siri? I am doing in-depth product research in prep for my final rounds, and I want to spend my time efficiently preparing. I want to get up-to-speed on the basics of Siri and how it operates on the back-end so I can come prepared to help improve the product should I get an offer.
Siri’s back end is actually really interesting. It’s made up of about 10,000 contractors across the world who are constantly receiving and answering questions. The back end of Siri is mostly a router system that takes streaming audio and forwards it to a contractor to listen and process. If you ever see Siri time out or say something went wrong that because the contractors have too many request to manage or are on lunch.
Ah yes that makes sense. I also heard Siri’s computational resources used electricity generated from 1 billion hamsters running on little hamster wheels
Lmao
Loooool
Oh you poor sweet summer child
