Folks who moved recently from AMD to Intel, any regrets with the move? especially now that Amd is doing better than Intel, but Amd pay is peanuts.#hardware #semiconductor TC- 180k
Intel is old school, pay reflects much lower compared to industry average
Better pay than AMD.
Let me blow you mind kid. I’m making 1.5x in AMD than in intel.
Intel is done. Better to leave otherwise you are also done.
I don't think so. Rumours are Intel has reserved the tsmc 3nm fab for 2023, so good news around the corner.
Users like ODKJ62 who still use Intel company account and swear at intel, you guys are cowards.
Why restrict yourself to these 2 companies? Any particular reason? Almost all fang, ms etc. Are hiring in similar domain if money is your highest priority.
AMD pay isn’t much lower. Even higher if you consider TX vs CA CoL
TX col is pretty high and what you save on taxes will be minimized with TX property tax and crazy high property valuations.
No way intel pays more than AMD.
Pays more than AMD and Qualcomm
@blue2green even with the new hike at Qualcomm?
AMD also expects 5-7 YEO for SWE 1. Checked like half an hour ago.
That is too much expectation for SWE 1.
I agree, but that was the posting lol.
Intel has significantly bumped up their pay… speaking with other managers at folsom, it’s near bay area TC’s… Intel is getting desperate. That being said using TSMC’s fab is killing their cost structure. Intel is 5 years late on their fab business model… Somethinga got to give 🍿
You can’t buy back the skill, experience, loyalty, tribal knowledge, or lead that they foolishly fired in 2015-2016. That’s when their slowdown in technological leadership took the steepest nose dive. Intel 2006 - XScale/StrongARM. Who would ever have a use for a 1+ GHz ARM processor? Worthless. Let’s sell to Marvell for pennies on the dollar.
Intel pay is also peanut
What are you looking to do? If it’s closer to technology, I can see why intel may be a better choice with their in-house foundry. If you’re working at the design level, AMD might be better (they’re paying really well these days) Microsoft, Google and FB have some interesting work too with reasonable pay. For me, I found some teams at intel very political and hard to navigate through to make an impact or grow.
Joined Intel from AMD. Both pay and culture are better than I expected. With the revised pay, it's at-least 50% better than AMD's.

How's Xilinx fitting in? Any idea what AMD has planned for FPGAs?
