Hello Blind. I'm considering applying to JS. Wanted to hear some pros and cons from y'all. I don't want to go into all the issues at Amazon, plenty of threads on Blind already (yes, they are mostly accurate). But what's it like to work at JS? Culture? WLB? Benefits and pay seem good to me. I've also seen some of their tech talks and I really like the stuff they're working on. But do they treat their tech employees the same as their traders, or are tech folks second-class citizens? EDIT: Folks who work there, or have interviewed with JS before, what's their tech interview like? Any advice on how to prepare? AS2 / L5 / 320K
I think JS has the highest bar (ask Citadel). If you can get an offer from them, you can probably get an offer from most Silicon Valley tech companies.
superior to amazon in every way simply judging by my interview experience there, except for impact. The company doesn't outside of perf bonus, but some people might look down on you. Kinda justifiable when tons of traders/quants are olympiad winners from hypsm while most amazon engineers only have experience getting dicked down by the underlings of a bald dude with a god complex.
Thanks for the answer. Yes I'm aware that most traders there are insanely smart IMO-winner level, but hopefully they don't look down on tech folks. I do have a PhD and am applying for a role that's very specific to my PhD research
Thatโs the context I think a lot of people were missing to give you some sincere feedback. Should have definitely included the PhD in the title. I hope you do apply and I wish you the best of luck!
