How’s capitalism going?
i just received an ‘inclined to hire’ email from AWS for an L5 role, the team is in Seattle. they asked me for my salary expectations, what should I say? I think my interviews were very strong and I have other offers on the table. Essentially, what is the highest I should be aiming for?
Based on blind data, 254k is SDE2 top end for Seattle and Seattle base is capped at 160k . You can ask for more bonus and RSUs.
Depends on how well your interview went and how much the hiring team wants you. A friend got an offer of ~290 for L5 in Seattle, which is very rare but possible
The hiring manager needs to defend your case to higher management and get sign-offs from VP level I think
Base is capped at 160, but the joining bonus (spread over year 1 and year 2) can be very high. The offer is usually created such that the joining bonus offsets the lack of stocks in Y1 and Y2
Also I would be relocating from outside USA. What would a relocation allowance look like?

It depends on your interviews and your YOE, generally L5 hires I have seen get ~220k+ and could go upto 250k
YOE 4 What base salary is that? I was hoping for high 200s TC, hope that’s possible
