Dm me. It is a terrible idea to switch from msft to amzn - I did it and am trying to go back now. Another terrible idea to go from principal to l6.
How long into Amazon did it take you to realize this?
It took me less than 6 months but I hung on until my stocks vested. I at-willed out of there the very next day after my final initial grant vested. I was in ProServe, and now work for a BB bank making $70k less (a smaller cut once accounting for purchasing power, taxes, and CoL in my new location), but I, my wife, and children are all happier. Tbh once you make over $200k and have a large portfolio, money takes a back seat IME and I'm big in to FIRE to boot.

Best offer for L6 PMTES at AWS but I’d suggest not to take since it’s a downgrade in level. Plus L6 to L7 is hard based on the product. Throw in the microsoft’s 401k matching, more vacations etc; your TC more or less is the same. Highly recommend passing on this and trying L7. Src: worked at both azure and AWS as PMT
This is a big downgrade. Do yourself a favor and don’t take it!

I declined an offer for 370K L6 TPM offer due to leveling issues. I don’t know what Amazon thinks with down leveling when they can provide salary in the L7 band. Same level and YOE as you. You can DM me :)
Easy answer... much much easier to get to L7 from L6 then L7 to L8. L6 is respected. If come in at L7 then that is it... you better show you are equivalent to partner level in 2 years. At L6 with a much higher comp than L65 at MS what is issue
Not sure If I get this. L6 to L7 can take few years. L7 to L8 takes many more. That’s natural in any organization. What’s your point here?

I think it’s easier to go from 65 to 66 at MSFT vs L6 to L7 at Amazon. Also, I believe MSFT has a better WLB.
