I have 2 offers. Please help me decide. AWS S3 Capacity and Forecasting team SDE 2 --> Base: $160k Signing Bonus Y1: $184k Signing Bonus Y2: $131k RSUs: 116 Location: Seattle Bloomberg Enterprise Data License Sr. SWE --> Base: $250k Bonus: $65k Location: NYC YOE: 12 TC: $200k #aws #engineering #swe #software #wlb
Better visualization of your TC. I’m pretty sure you could get a sign on from Bloomberg as well. I got 25k by showing them a competing offer. Pretty sure you could get at least $50k. https://www.levels.fyi/calculator/?co=Amazon&bs=160000&sg=390000&sgt=total-stock-grant&sbone=184000&sbtwo=131000&ve=5-15-40-40-0&co-2=Bloomberg&bs-2=250000&sgt-2=total-stock-grant&bda-2=65000
I tried. They didn't budge. Bloomberg is better?
I voted for AWS based on TC but there are other conditions like team dynamics, WLB, learning opportunities, career progression. IMO, it’ll be best to speak to both teams about what you care about and see who comes on top. Congrats, these are pretty good offers! :)
Wow awesome numbers
How about WLB in AWS?
Bloomberg will kill your ENG career if you want to stick to being an IC. Did they tell you that they just have 2 levels- SE and SSE? They have a knack of conveniently hiding that "quirk". That said, NYC is a nice city. Though you can also move within Amazon to NYC (they have a big presence here). Also, if you want to mentally retire, and don't care about growing, choose Bloomberg. I would leverage the Bloomberg offer to maximize my Amazon offer, if I were you. And not even seriously consider joining Bloomberg.
What's your YOE?
How does it matter? It is more than a decade
SDE2 for 12yr exp ? Try asking for SDE3 ?
WLB in AWS S3 is infamously cruel due to 15+ years of tech debt and oncall load ... On average >50 work hours per week
Is that $360k in Seattle!! Damn. Amazon has upped its game.
