I am currently an SA in AWS for last 2 years and bring an overall 20+ years of IT experience. I have TT rating performance, happy with my team and managers, WLB as well as AWS overall. I’m also up for promo this Q3 to L7. My question is does it make sense to move to IBM as. “Senior Partner” global leader selling strategy and architecture in IBM’s cloud division. I haven’t even started the interview process yet and don’t know the TC. The reason this role interests me is because 1/ transition my career from tech to sales/BD in a global role with a big tech consulting firm 2/ executive role 3/ potential to have stocks and bonus as part of TC. Looking for guidance from blind community. Thanks!
You do know there are a ton of BD teams at AWS that you could move into. Can’t comment on IBM
Current TC $324k base $201k
Do you want to work for the 4th ranked Cloud Company ? Going to be tough to sell IBM Cloud , what is the value prop that someone would choose it over AWS or Azure or GCP
@enjoylife0 you make a good point. Agree that it will be tough to sell against top 3 CSPs but I’m hoping that getting into this role and gaining the business experience will go a long way for my career growth, IF I’m successful in this role. I’m sure IBM has their own strength in specific use cases for customers that don’t directly compete with AWS/Azure/GCP. (Hopefully)

Op, what is new TC?
Based on my research so far, TC could be in the range of $400k to $500k but not sure yet. This is an executive level role in Band A to Band D.
AWS L6 could be IBM L9 or maybe junior L10. Not a partner role, forget about senior partner. I have not seen a SA get to Partner. SAs have a different career track. There is massive chasm between expectations and skill set between SA and Partner roles.
