AWS managers are canceling all offers and job interviews and going on a total freeze. They are also not allowing internal transfers and replacing employees that leave. Employees are getting stock refreshes so that's good kind of. Damn we are really in a recession and big tech is exposed. Rough times for alot of people especially those that got layed off. Saw that stripe layed off 14% of staff too. Edited : Turns out they increased URA to 8% too. I would expect more aggressive pips
Selectively or really just every single offer all across the company regardless of location, department, and positions?
Selectively at most. It's also end of year and many teams likely hit their hiring goals for the year. This happens this time of year just maybe not as widespread. Edit: A close reading of Beth's post still not exactly a full freeze but not great
👆🏻post aged like milk
Yep, got a rejection for my AWS position saying the position is not available, went through the whole loop.
Did you end up with an offer?
I am offer ready (inclined) so if the role or any similar position with the same level opens up, I can get an offer without the interview. Valid for 6 months
Oh shoot
Do they rescind accepted offer as well?
Some
Proof? Source? This is hard to believe
My team is actually over hired so we are not hiring until next year
Y'all know what a recession is, right? It's a shrinking economy, not your industry freezing hiring. Unemployment is 3.8% right now. https://fortune.com/2022/10/25/are-we-in-a-recession-economists-outlook-biden-fed-powell/
Usually it’s the big companies get affected first then the rest. I bet early next year you will start seeing small and medium size companies start feeling the impact
We are still hiring L6+ positions in Canada. US is on hold for now.
Lol na. The news will trickle to your team
Just checked - people are free to transfer, however start date for a new position should be January
Yeah. I think just people that have not accepted an offer are getting affected. I think if you have moved past verbal offer you're safe.
This is not true. I just checked in with my AWS RC, and she told me they've been given guidance to keep everything that's already been scheduled in place.
Lol the news will trickle to her
@OpenText (Slattt69) who hurt you? Why pessimistic? Plenty of open roles still out there. Still getting emails from recruiters
Same for CDO?
