After working at AWS did you notice a significant increase in doors opened for future opportunities? How is AWS on resume - Compared to a company like Salesforce/ServiceNow/etc , is there really that much of a difference?
yes significantly. Many small companies use AWS, meaning they would love to hire ppl from AWS
I noticed a similar effect with my current company. Have had companies be super interested just because I work at NOW and they are using the platform. Good point.
Having worked at those small companies and reviewed resumes and work history for hires at those small companies I don't think this ever came up even once when considering any candidate. Generalization is far more valuable in a small company than specialization.
AWS is still faang, you are automatically viewed as having more experience of working on large scale systems. Also, outside of Blind no one bashes amazon for their PIP culture so most companies still see Amazon as a top tech company comparable to any other FAAMANGULA
IMO there will be a false signal here because with self reported metrics you cannot isolate this variable from the increased years of experience variable, which will increase over your tenure anywhere. My experience so far leads me to believe that the Amazon entry on the resume doesn't matter very much. Maybe a little, but not much.
