I didn't wanted to make the move and Blind and everyone says AWS! AWS! But I am frustrated in AWS with the ops hell, I got 25 sev-2s so far and on-call is not over. I tried looking for internal teams and most of the people's CRs are alarm threshold, region expansion, all those garbage work. Other teams are doing similar stuff like China region, dashboards etc. AWS has created so many services that 30-40% services has less than 100 customers. I have not coded since couple months, just doing ops. Should I try out Alexa team over AWS for a change or it will suck even more and try finding another team in AWS itself or go to some core AWS teams? TC - 197K (waiting for this year PCS, underpaid for 5 YOE, need to LC too if I can get it out of ops hell)
I am in one of the alexa teams. Great team, great wlb, great managers. Really good and exiting projects to work on.
Was in alexa for a yr and a half. Just lc and gtfo
Good place to LC? How was your experience? I at least need time to LC which I don't get in AWS.
The saying goes, ‘I like my manager so much that I would even follow them to the Alexa team’, according to my Amazon friend.
“I didn’t wanted”….man Amazon really lowered the bar
Lmao I love reading these comments, as if companies give a shit about candidate's grammar Nazi-ness when hiring for tech positions. Almost always it comes from people at no-name companies too
Right. I am frustrated here with ops and looking for feedback to change teams but out of all these bigger concerns in my life, I should be worried about my grammar on anonymous site. Thanks for the reply
Alexa is fucked man!! Depending on your org, I guess AWS is fucked too. Rock and hard place!!
Stay in AWS. Change teams if you’re burning out.
LC and GTFO
