Reached out by a recruiter for a potential L6/L5 position. The position is for Bay Area solution architect. What’s the difference in interview process between Solution Architect vs SDE L6?
How do you become a Solution Architect (honest question)
I’m not a Solution Architect in my current role. I’m an IC, Swe.
You don't need to code. You need to have a very broad understanding of the overall tech stacks and a very good understanding of system design. You also need to be an expert in something specific.
Does the AWS architect certification get people noticed more? Just curious if it’s worth getting certified
Yeah that might help
Not really. Some may have 10 AWS certificates but may not clear the bar. And some with zero knowledge of AWS can get the offer. What is important is very broad domain knowledge and significant depth in certain area. Depth doesnt mean ability to code.
Do solution architects write code all that much?
