Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Recently got a verbal offer for a L9 Team/lead in operations at accenture in Dallas. What TC should I expect and what can I negotiate for. Thank you Current TC: $85k
Application Development team lead on H1 visa here. Joined as fresher 9 years back and came to US in 2016 and current TC is 100k. Since you are lateral hire, should target for 120k-130k IMO
Did you come in at l9 also ?
No, i came in as an Analyst and got promoted to Senior Analyst and to L9 Team lead recently
Sounds about right for operations…accenture strategy and consulting pays more for same level
Do you have an idea how much the range is ?
Unfortunately no but it’s known accenture technology and accenture operations pay range is lower..something to do with the fact most of those roles aren’t client facing..and funding for it is internal
Company sucks, doesn’t truly value you and under pays. Do yourself a favor and decline it
L9 here based out of Columbus Ohio in the Technology practice. I left the consulting practice cuz it wasn’t for me. Didn’t like it wanted to make a change so I switched. I’m at 111k and the bonus I got for getting promoted was like 3k I think. I wouldn’t take anything less than 110k I know Ops probably pays little bit on the lower end but I still wouldn’t take less than 110. I will agree with my peeps in the comments here. Accenture isn’t a company where you get to say you make a bunch of money. I think Accenture pays way less than what you’re worth. But they’re Accenture and people recognize it. Do it if that’s all you got in your hand. But get a little experience and jump ship as soon as you can. Your bonuses are never going to be more than 1 or 2 percent. And you’ll have to fight tooth and nail for promotions every year just be turned down and told your performing at your level. Finally when they do promote you, you’ll make about a 10-15 percent raise and a 1-2 percent raise. And god knows how long you’ll have to stick around to see another promotion. I’m in my 4th year now, I get to work with some great people, but the lack of growth opportunities will definitely wear you down. Best of luck either way!
Thank you so much for the detailed reply. I do not have any options so I’ll have to take it at the moment. I do have a few questions I hope you can answer 1. As L9 do you actually lead a team? 2. How long have you been at l9? 3. Are the raises and bonuses truly between 1-2%? 4. Are there sufficient training resources and are you reimbursed for taking certifications? Thank you
1. As L9 depending on if you’re specialized in something (I’m a product manager) you may get to lead a team but most probably not. L9s are usually just given BA work or work specific to a project. As an analyst you do betch work. As L9 you get to do specialized betch work. You most probably won’t be leading any teams any time soon. Although if that’s something you’re looking to do I would go above and beyond to please my managers and senior managers and clients. And ask for more responsibility and tell them you’d like to lead a team. Your career counselor can also help with that but then again maybe not. All depends on you. But unless you go out and prove something they’ll just keep giving you the same work till you get promoted and eventually as a manager you’ll get to lead a small part of a small portion of a big team. (I hope all this makes sense) 2. I’ve been L9 for about 4 months now but really and truly I’ve been performing at manager level for 2 years. Product managers at my office are all minimum L8 and majority L7. I started there as product manager when I was L11. I know I’m ranting here but this is all a part of the lack of growth and recognition. 3. I should clarify here. I goofed up and missed a typo in my earlier rant. Your raises will be 10-15 percent based on performance and budget I guess. I don’t know the exact formula but here’s my personal breakdown. I was hired out of college as L11 so I’ll start there L11. 77k salary 10k sign on bonus L10. 92k salary 1,500 bonus L11. 111k salary 2,000 bonus This was also not all consecutive going year by year. Between L10 and L11 I waited 2 years for that bonus. And those 2 years I wasn’t given any performance raises or bonuses. One of the bonuses I got was literally 1000 dollars. You will definitely get bonuses. Twice a year before the summer and during holiday season you get extra pocket money. And for me man it’s never been more than whatever rent costs. I have never seen 2000 dollars hit my account after taxes on bonuses. 4. Plenty trainings. Lots of stuff internally. You’ll have to get approvals but yes they pay for outside training and internal training and certs too. Look, I’m not saying don’t take it or trying to scare you. You’re making money and getting an opportunity to work for a company that’s recognized worldwide. It’s a phenomenal opportunity. I don’t take it for granted. Can Accenture improve? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, Accenture knows they can replace you immediately if you say no or leave. Which is why they pay less than industry. I’m paying my dues right now. That’s how I see it. It’s a great set up to go somewhere better and bigger. The people I work with on a daily basis are the reason I stay and enjoy my time. But I know once I’ve got 5 years I’ll have better opportunities. Take everything I say with a grain of salt but just know regardless man you’re killing it.
If you have the option to join a product company decline the offer. I recently left for Uber at the same time I was promoted to L9. My old TC was $120k in NYC. Current TC is minimum 240k. Everything people have said is true, promotions are slow past L9 and pay bumps are small (20% max). Yearly bonuses are terrible 3% max which usually works out to a one weeks paycheck. Consulting is a sales business at the end of the day. If you don’t plan to sell projects and roles to clients you won’t move up, and you won’t get any decent compensation that managers earn (150k - 350k+). But again to get there usually takes years, about 10- 11 years to managing director (350k TC) from senior analyst level.
Thank you for the honest reply I really appreciate it. At the moment I’m having problems getting into product companies, so I’m hoping staying at accenture a year could improve my chances. What do you think
Yeah I’m sure it’ll help. Accenture works on a ton of interesting things in tech so make sure to only be in those projects. It’s just as easy to be stuck working boring projects that don’t help you.
I make 138 in NJ as level 9 and maybe 4% bonus (based on performance). I also had a 27.6 sign on
