Hey y’all, I got an offer from Chewy. I’d love your insight. I have ~2YOE as a frontend dev. Current TC: 98k (all cash). Remote, in a LCOL. Good WLB (20-30hr/wk with great feedback). Chewy Offer: SDE1, TC: 135k (113k base, 8.5k stock/yr, 13k bonus). Hybrid, but must relocate to a HCOL area. Poor WLB, but interesting team. I’m in a good position to ask for a counteroffer. I’m leading frontend development in a role my company was trying to fill for over a year due to the client’s strange requirements. If I join Chewy, I can’t do interview prep as often. I’ve done 243 LeetCode (65 easy/169 medium/9 hard) and prepped for system design and feel confident. I’ve been wanting to join Airbnb, Atlassian, Netflix, Databricks, Dropbox, Stripe, or LinkedIn (I’d appreciate a referral for any of these, please DM me if so… junior/mid roles are uncommon). TL;DR: join Chewy, ask for promo and/or raise, or stay quiet until I have a better offer? Thanks! #tech #airbnb #atlassian #netflix #dropbox #stripe #linkedin #chewy #databricks
HCOL will eat into the increase in base. You can check COL calculators but I doubt you break even
Not worth moving to a HCOL situation with the TC from Chewy. Do a friendly non-confrontational negotiation of your current salary/position, but stay and use that good WLB to prep for high end offers.
If you're going to hcol , that's no where near a better offer

I just left Chewy; the RSU’s are nearly worthless. No real work / life balance and the merits are a joke - you’ll be lucky to see 2-3% annually.
